The National Technical University of Athens, the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, Education and Religious Affairs and the Hellenic Lighting Association are going to organize in Athens, Greece, on the 16th-19th of September 2015, the international conference Balkan Light 2015.
The Balkan Light 2015 is the 6th Balkan Light Conference, a conference that takes place every 3 years and serves as the premier Balkan and international forum on the field of lighting engineering. Previous Balkan Light conferences have been held in the following years and locations:
1999 - Varna, Bulgaria
2002 - Istanbul, Turkey
2005 – Cluj-Napoca, Romania
2008 – Ljubljana, Slovenia
2012 – Belgrade, Serbia
2015 is the UNESCO International Year of Light and for that reason the conference will be part of the coordinated events under the auspices of UNESCO.
Scope of the conference
The objective of Balkan Light 2015 conference is to provide an opportunity to exchange views on key areas of light and lighting engineering, to present progress in technology and to discuss challenges for the future.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Lighting technology (lamps, luminaires, lighting controls)
• Lighting calculations and measurements
• Energy efficiency and economics of lighting
• Standards and legislation in lighting
• Daylight design and control
• Interior & exterior lighting
• Architecture lighting
• Lighting in antiquity
• Illumination of archaeological sites, monuments and museums
• Human aspects of lighting
Participation in the conference is not limited to academics and scientists from the Balkan countries. Participations from all over the world are also warmly welcome.
The conference will take place at the Auditorium of the Acropolis Museum.
