For the very first time the European GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award 2014 has ben granted on 1 April 2014 at the international conference IEECB (Improving Energy Efficiency in Commercial Buildings) in Frankfurt.
Klemens Leutgöb, CEO of the research and consulting company e7 and coordinator of the European MaTrID project, says: “With this award we want to give European visibility to outstanding integrated design processes. Submissions from all over Europe have been received! The most convincing integrated design process was applied in Austria”.

The winner
The GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award 2014 is obtained by WA Business & Service Center GmbH and ATP architects engineers with the building aspern IQ in Vienna. The building shows an excellent performance while combining high-energy efficiency with reasonable costs. The proactive support of the client has clearly helped to achieve the design targets.

Commendations for two further processes
Kobra Team d.o.o. and Protim Ržišnik Perc d.o.o. demonstrated with the Plus Energy Business Building Kobra in Slovenia, that the definition of clear target criteria during the very early planning phase leads to a high quality result.
For the Municipality of Evrotas in Greece the application of an integrated design process was a novelty. Together with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens the Bassourakos Building-Cultural Center could be realized. The experiences from this collaborative process will be used in further projects.

About the GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award
From now on the GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award will be granted annually. It addresses public and private clients of non-residential buildings. Both, refurbishment projects and new buildings are valid for application. Submission documents are verified by a jury and their decision with respect to the winner is taken anonymously.

The next submission deadline is 1 March 2015.
The award 2015 will be granted during the Nextbuilding Fair in Milano. The award is offered in cooperation with the European GreenBuilding Programme. Development and
implementation was undertaken within the IEE project MaTrID - Market transformation towards nearly zero energy buildings through widespread use of integrated energy design - which is co-funded by the European Commission. MaTrID aims at the development of the real estate market towards NZEBs. Thereby, the application of integrated planning processes is the key asset. The project is coordinated by the Austrian research and consulting company e7. The consortium comprises partners from 11 European countries.
The European GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award intends to provide European visibility to outstanding integrated design processes. With this award the importance for the application of integrated design is highlighted. Integrated design is a proven method of achieving high-performance buildings that meet the client brief, without sacrificing architectural quality or causing excessive costs.

Benefits from the GB ID Award
The awarded organizations are allowed to use the GreenBuilding Integrated Design Award logo in their printed material, advertisement or in their headquarters. Partners will receive public recognition for their efforts in having adopted the integrated design process. The list of rewarded organizations will be published widely in brochures, magazines, MaTrID website etc.
